Traps are the horizontal dips or bends in drainage pipes found underneath kitchen and bathroom sinks.
A depressed U-shaped section of pipe in a drain; allows the free passage of fluid, but always remains full, whatever the state of the pipe, so that it forms a seal against the passage of gases.
The pipe bend known as the trap ensures that there is a water seal separating the sewage system from the inside of your home. Like the rest of the wastewater system, it relies on gravity to keep the water within the bend.
